Configure IDE Dialog Unreadable
Jul 5th, 2017 at 1:06am
Print Post
I've just gotten a new laptop (Lenovo Y700 Touch) with a UHD display.  With VS2017 the Configure IDE dialog is completely unreadable.  ALL of the textboxes and their contents are all overlapping each other, so NONE of the text is actually readable, or even visible, and it's near impossible to select anything.  I can manage to get the version drop-down to drop down, but it is so narrow, I only see the first 10 or so characters of each item, and all the items are to same in those characters.

I have a screen shot, but damned if I can figure out how to either include an image in my post, or even attach the file.  I don't have the photo posted where it can be accessed via URL, and when I try to attach the file, it says:

NOTE: If you had an Attachment in your post, you will need to reselect the Attachment again in the Browser Box for security reasons.

I have no clue what that even means....

I'm kinda dead in the water here.  Any ideas??

Regards,
Ray L.

Hi,

If you have a high res screen that causes an issue with older windows forms. I will be updating the form when time allows.

In the meantime you can use the screen. Just paste your arduino location into the 2nd field down (#2)

I need to have multiple IDE versions available.  I don't see how I can do that when I can't even see what's i the version drop-down.  Is there a configuration file somewhere I an manually edit instead?

Also, why does it still not display correctly, even when I reduce the screen to the same 1920x1080 my old PC had?

Ray L.

You only need one ide location

If you read about dpi scaling for windows forms apps you will understand the issue.

I'm afraid I don't understand that.  I have old projects that compile using v1.0.5, and a few other versions.  How do I build those, if the IDE location points to v1.8.2?  On my old PC, I had several different versions configured, so I could open a project, and use the toolbar drop-down to select which IDE version to build with.

Is there a config file I can edit, rather than using the IDE Configuration dialog?

Ray L.
