How can I create a button or shortcut to launch the serial monitor?

there is a button on the toolbar. if you are using 2008 the icon is missing. just click the blank space to the right of the ports list :)

you can get a free copy of 2010. read the link on the main site.

am i missing the point ?

I'm using 2008 because I purchased it retail.
But the blank button works. Wish I could put an icon there but it works.
