Title: Intel Edison
Post by gwiken on Sep 29th, 2014 at 7:06pm
I have today used The Visual Studio and Visual Micro along with Intel Edison IDE to compile and download blink.ino into an Intel Edison Board with the Arduino base board. :D
It works fine, now is a new problem, I have three configurations:
1. Arduino 1.0.6
2. Arduino 1.5.7 for Due
3. Intel Edison 1.0.3 with Ardunio 1.5.3 in the bottom.
But there is only two to choose from.
Can you add more configurations? :P

Hi,

Yes you can add more if you have a Visual Micro Plus license but you don't need to...

Thanks for the post about the Edison.

If you look at the list of Ides' in Visual Micro do you not see the Intel option? This option was tested with the Galileo and is based on 1.5.3

Maybe it needs another test for the Edison.

Thanks

Thanks for your response.
If I add the Edison Arduino IDE in the 1.5.x option i See the Edison option along with the Galileo option.

I develop for Arduino Due as well, and its a bit of changing configuration paths, switching between them.

If a Visual Studio Plus license fixes that, but I can't find such option on your site.

Sorry I think I must be missing the point or maybe a misunderstanding

You can enter a different path for each Ide.

When a project is open you can easily pick the Ide and Board from the tool bar

When you save the project the Ide and Board are retained so you only have to select this once per project normally.

Did you think that you had to clear the path from the Arduino 1.0.x or 1.5.x to configure the Intel option? Is that is not the case. You can have all of the Ide types configured with locations.

I hope this makes sense?

Ok, cool.
Sorry for alate reply, I have has my as* full.
I guess I got the principle backwards.
I have tested a bit more, and the "play" symbol is dimmed now after trying to start a new Edison project from the start.  :-?
Will test more.

Hi,

There is no difference between edison or arduino projects. You can switch any project between ide and board at anytime and the sketch will compile as long as the source code and libraries are compatible with the selected hardware.

To start a new project use "file>new>sketch project" or File>Open>Sketch project to open/create a project from an existing sketch.ino
