Title: Compile Single C++ File?
Post by Uncle on Jan 11th, 2019 at 7:13am
In a Visual Studio native build one can right-click on a C++ file in the Solution Explorer and select "Compile". In my Visual Micro projects doing so results in a build failure, for example:

1>------ Build started: Project: jBot, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------
1>Build started 11/01/2019 5:43:32 PM.
1>Target PlatformPrepareForBuild:
1>  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\Common7\IDE\VC\VCTargets\Microsoft.Cpp.Platform.targets(61,5): error MSB8038: Platform Toolset is not defined. Please select one of the available Platform Toolsets in the Project Properties UI.
1>Done building target "PlatformPrepareForBuild" in project "jBot.vcxproj" -- FAILED.

In Microsoft.Cpp.Platform.targets there is no mention of g++, arduino or avr.

Is this functionality supported by VM? If so, how do I configure the toolchain? (Building a project or a solution otherwise work fine.)

I am using Win 10 64-bit, VS 2017 Community Edition v. 15.9.4 with  VM v. 1812.9 and Arduino 1.8.8. In Tools > Options > Visual Micro > General, the toolchain location is "avr".
