Title: VS 2017 won't start after Win 10 update
Post by Harrzack on Mar 15th, 2019 at 5:19pm
VS2017 was working fine - went away for one day - came back and after a Win10 update - when I click the short cut to VS - it comes up for a split second then quietly quits/won't run.

Have combed the net for the past several hours and have found nothing that will fix it.  Even did a fresh install of VS2017(Community) and was plagued with that stupid error that it can't the directory for "vc_runtimeMinimum_x86.msi".  This crap goes on all the time - I've even created that full path with the file in the folder - and it still 'can't find it'   :-(

Has anybody worked out a fix for this? Big thanks for any ideas?.....

=A.

So I just uninstalled an old version of 2015 as well as 2017 - cleaned registry - reinsalled and all seems well.  Now just have to put VM back in...   :-)

Maybe run a repair next time or try running vs as admin.

I don't see the error you see and give all the ide version a hard time. That said microsoft have been fixing bugs in vs2017 so ensure you are on the latest version if not already.

Anyway good to hear it is working again.
