Title: Why does the Serial monitor open when using Serial debug?
Post by Trek19 on Aug 18th, 2019 at 2:32pm
While on the subject the, I am using a Mega 2560 with the debug remote port set to Serial3.
When I start the debug, a window for the COM attached through a serial to USB device opens as well as the Expression Window.
Is it possible to stop this happening cos it takes up space in the interface.

Jim

The debugger is a serial debugger. The status of the serial port is critical to debug, closing the window or disconnecting stops debug. You can pin or place all tool windows at whatever size fits.

When a debug upload has been made The DTR setting on the serial window can be used to determine if debug will jump into a running session or reboot the micro-controller
