Atmel have a different gallery and the extension for Atmel is different to the Visual Studio extension.

Since Atmel confused Arduino with their converter we have made Visual Studio our preffered IDE. This means that updates for Atmel Studio are much less frequent than for Visual Studio. Atmel have also made the gallery less useful for Visual Micro so it has become a more cumbersome solution for us to work with.

The release notes show when there is a new release for Atmel Studio. The current release for Atmel studio is from June this year which I think you are already using.

In the future we will seperate the release notifications so it is less confusing.

FYI: The atmel gallery is here https://gallery.microchip.com/packages

Thanks
