Title: Library installation (upgrade) problem
Post by Acuario on May 26th, 2022 at 4:27am
I'm trying to upgrade (via Micro Explorer) the GFX by Adafruit library.
VM says I have Version 1.10.13 installed , click to install V1.11.1
Click and I get the normal Install message box.
Click OK and I get a message box 'The destination folder already exists' etc...
Click Yes to remove folder
Message box 'Unable to install the new library. Object reference not set to an instance of object.

Other library updates that I have done are ok.

..and now the strange stuff.
The library has been added to the sketch that I have open - I didn't add it as I don't use this library in this sketch.
Checking again in Micro explorer it now tells me the V.11.1 is installed.

Thanks for the report.

The latest release (22.04.29-4) should resolve this issue, and can be downloaded from the top of the board below:

Hi,
I don't know if this is related or different..

I have the ESP32SSDP library V1.1.1 installed. On Github the latest version is 1.2.0
In the library manager V1.1.1 is still shown.
The library is not shown in the list of installed libraries (Library Manager) on my machine.
If I go to the list of Authors, select Me-No-Dev it shows ESP32SSDP Version 1.1.1
If I click on it it offers the option to install
Click install and I get a message box 'Unable to install.. Download failed etc..

Removing the library from the directory I can now install it with the 'Install from ZIP' option
The library still is not listed in the list of installed libraries (after Refresh).
The correct version (1.2.0) is now listed under Me-No-Dev
The library is also listed in the list of user installed libraries (from Add Library) - this I didn't previously check.

Thanks for the report.

This is a different issue, as the library has the url to the GitHub repository, the "click to install" action fails as it is expecting a ZIP file containing the library to be available at this url.

The install from ZIP option is the best route at present, and we will update if we can automatically install libraries from a GitHub repo in a future release.
