the plugin has only been tested with vs 2008 and 2010. vs 2011 version coming soon, 2012 when it is released or asap. currently microsoft vs 2012 is not a full release it is like a beta.

you can rename the .addin file in the location where you installed visual micro to prevent vs 2012 from trying to load visual micro

so please use vs 2010. we will look at support for 2011/2012 as soon as possible.

had so many other problems when i tried vs 2012 that i uninstalled it again

Yes you need to start arduino once for the addin to work but I didn't know it stops vs working

What do you mean by vs stops working?

What version of windows are you running? Have you tried running arduino with admin rights?

If you don't manage to run arduino.exe let me know. I will explain how to configure vs to work without having run arduino once.

OK, PROBLEM SOLVED it was issue not with arduino.exe itself but with java environment that was trying to use Polish  language that is not handled by arduino. By the way I've found solution here.

Thx for youre hints.

Hey thanks for reporting this. I tested it and found that VS 2010 crashed if the Arduino IDE has not been run once.

The Visual Micro installation instructions do say to run arduino once but I didn't realise it crashed Visual Studio if this had not been done!!

The crash is fixed in the next version (no use to you now you are up and running now) but the plugin has also been extended to enable it to run without needing to have run Arduino.

This will be a useful fix for users who are new to Arduino and missed the note about running the IDE once before running Visual Studio.

Thanks again for reporting this, I bet others have encountered the crash and simply uninstalled the plugin Cry
