Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled

Visual Studio Start Error after installing VisualMicro

Hello VisualMicro fans,

I installed (no upgrade) the add-in, but when I'm going to start Visual Studio 2010 Professional (with SP1), there is always this error and it is not possible to create anything for arduino with Visual Studio.  After 3 reinstallations the problem is not fixed   Embarrassed


I hope you can help me   Wink

P.S. Sorry, my native language is german so the error is half in german

1)

Did you ensure visual studio had closed properly before running uninstall and re-install? Did you run task manager and check that the devenv.exe processes (visual studio) were not running. If they are running then terminate them before re-install

2) if 1) fails then...

It is possible the last version of the product shipped with a mix of .NET4 and .NET3.5 program files.

Do you have .NET3.5 installed on your windows?

Hello Admin, 

thank you for your fast reply  Smiley

1) Failed - I cant find devenv.exe or envdte.exe (a hint of Tim per Mail) in the Tskmgr.

2) Yes I have .Net 3.5 & .Net 4 (Client Profile) on my PC (but the .Net 4 is not listed in Visual Studio as possible Framework).

I hope someone can help me with this problem  Cry

The translation means (After the english part of the error Wink) :

The type "Visual.Micro.ProgramConfiguration...." in the assembly "Visual.Micro.Processing..." could not be loaded.

Thanks, yes we have had a couple of reports of that yet each time it was easily fixed by uninstall then re-install of the msi.

It's interesting that it always objects to the ProgramSettings type. It is a simple class, one of many, in the vm sketch.dll.

Because the installer is used for both Vs2008 and Vs2010 the msi does not ensure that all windows dependancies are installed. It just assumes you have the correct .net versions etc.

Can you confirm that under "Tools>Options>Macros & Security" you see only one mapping to a visual micro program folder?

What happens if you run Visual Studio as administrator (right click the vs icon and select "Run as Administrator"?

Hello,

If this continues to be a problem then maybe the next release of vm will fix this due to the .net4 version change on one of the vm dlls.

In the meantime you should find that V27 works which is in the alternative downloads list on visualmicro.codeplex.com

V27 is listed under Arduino 1.0 for Visual Studio 2008 and 2010. You will also need to dowload and unzip  the Arduino 1.0 IDE and point the vm options to its arduino.exe location. Both arduino 1.0 and 1.0.1 can be installed on your pc so shouldn't cause any issues

Hi,

i tried V27 (yes I unistalled the other version and downloaded the Arduino SDK 1.0 Wink), but nothing changed !

To run Visual Studio as Administrator was not helpfull Undecided

-Can you confirm that under "Tools>Options>Macros & Security" you see only one mapping to a visual micro program folder?

I don't know if all is ok, but a made a screenshot :

Hi,

This is getting strange because you have tried v27 which was used by many people without problem. Are you saying that you get exactly the same error message with v27?

As a test, maybe you could try to do a windows update and also install .NET4 full and not just client profile.

Yes, I have the same error with v27.

With .net 4 (not only client version) I have the same error Undecided

what about your .net3.5 installation? is it up to date? can you run a repair on it?

and please confirm that this error happens when vs starts, before you attempt to open a project?
