Library not in the list

Print Post
Hi,

I downloaded and installed the library Adafruit_RGBLCDShield and it works fine in the Arduino IDE. However I cannot find the library in Visual Micro - Atmel Studio: it does not appear in the list of available libraries.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Did you click the rescan button or restart the ide after installing libraries?

1)
Okay then first of all lets check we are looking in the correct location for user libraries.

User libraries are saved in "[sketchbook folder]\libraries". For Arduino, this usually means mydocuments\libraries.

The sketchbook folder should normally be empty (not set) in Visual Micro for this default location to be used.

Please open the Ide Locations window in Visual Micro. The sketchbook folder is the 2nd edit box for each ide and should be empty. Please confirm that it is empty, if not clear it then press OK and libraries should be available.

2) If we still have a problem then please switch on "tools>options>visual micro>user interface>trace" and re-start. After the system has restarted an output window should show a trace. Please copy the trace into an email to info [at] visualmicro.com

Thanks

Sorry, but

1) I can't find the Ide Locations window. I have looked at each and every place I can think of but without succes...

2) I am afraid I didn't explain very well... (English is not my native language )
The Library folder shows up allright but the library I want to add is not in the list of available libraries. It is however available in the Arduino ide.
Please see attached screenshot.

No problem. The screen shot shows you have the correct sketch book library path.

Can you tell me which version of Visual Micro you are using please tools>options>visual micro>version and version>minor

Thanks

That means you are using the September 11th 2013 version of Visual Micro.

Please upgrade which you can do via "Tools>Extension Manager" which has the release from July this year

You will find in the Release Notes there have been many releases and fixes

Hopefully the upgrade fixes the problem. If not let me know and I will look into it for you.

ps: I will move this post from the Visual Studio section to the older Atmel 6.2 section of the forum to avoid confusion Smiley
