Creating a new project (yes C++ is installed, i think)

Total newb question and I assume a config issue that I've created but ...

In MS VS Community 2015, if I perform a File/New/Arduino Project I get the standard error msg "unable to create new sketch ... parameter is incorrect ...".

This occurs when VS is opened (with no files loaded) the first time.

If I perform the same action, but this time with a file (sketch) already opened the project gets created as expected.

Is this just a feature, or do I have a problem with my config?

Thanks
Rob

Hi,

This means that c++ is not installed or your vs install needs repair.

You can see the same issue without using visual micro when you try to create a new empty windows c++ project.

Thanks for the reply.

But ... If i open VS then select "File/New/Project", and from the New Project *Dialog* select Arduino Project, a new Arduino sketch is created. And I can upload via serial to a device.

This is a different approach to creating a new project than I outlined in my initial post. That is what is confusing. One way works and the other throws the error msg.

I have done a repair already.

Any ideas?

I don't wish to do a delete/reinstall if I can help it.

Thanks
