Hi,

The atmel version of visual micro is some months behind the current version hence the note on the download site to say use Visual Studio instead of atmel studio..

It's also true that atmel do not want atmel studio to be used for non-atmel products such as esp8266 (I can't stop the users from adding non-atmel hardware which is why you have been able do add the json url)

Please uninstall atmel 7 and also uninstall the visual studio shell that atmel installs. You can do that in control panel > add or remove programs.

Then install Visual Studio Community Edition along with Visual Micro. Everything will then work as expected.

Thanks

Can you still use the nice gcc libraries that come with Atmel studio 7 (like delay.h) taht is modified to be really good for AVR, or do you have to add them in some way manually?

Not sure why I missed this message. There is a new release due to be published that allows a local core as well as local libraries so everything can be overridden that way.

I am also considering allowing the atmel "Libraries" feature to be used. If anyone would like to comment on the usefulness of supporting the Libraries or provide any info that will be appreciated
