Unable to create an "Arduino Mega2560" project for "Atmel Studio 7"

Print Post
Hello,

I want to use the AtmelStudio 7 with the VisualMicro 1609.4.3 Extension.
First I installed "Arduino IDE 1.6.10" and check some sketches => works fine with the "Arduino Mega2560."

Then I setup the AtmelStudio 7 and VisualMicro (Images).
And when I want to create or open an "Arduino Project" I get this Error:

"The Project "xxyy" contains a device "ATmega2560" which not supported by AtmelStudio. Please select another device"

Can anyone help me?

Thank You!
Martin

Hi,

First of all try using the File>New>Project wizard where you will see two Visual Micro project templates. One for standard  mcu and and one for 32 bit mcu.

Does creating a project this way work?

Thanks

It does not matter, the error is displayed with all Arduino templates.

Okay I will take a look later

Can you please show a screen shot with the device family list dropped?

Is it possible during install of Atmel Studio 7 you unselected install of the 8 bit micro-controller?

Thanks

The "Device Family List" is always empty..

Can I check if the 8 bit-micro-controller is installed?

It sounds like you uncheck the 8bit stuff during install of atmel studio

You can run through the setup process again via control panel>add or remove programs>atmel studio>change

Thanks

Can you create a new gcc application using the standard file>new>project>gcc application and select the mega2560 chip?

This process won't use visual micro just prove you atmel install is correct.

Thanks

That's weird. The two products are not connected in any way at all.

Thanks for the update, appreciated.
