There is a page on your site herehttp://www.visualmicro.com/post/2013/06/05/How-to-start-the-Atmel-Simulator-Ardu... which is about 4 years old and says "Visual Micro has a new facility due soon to make this process easier." - has this happened, or should I try the method detailed? I have a project which doesn't use any external hardware but will need extensive debugging (single-step etc).

Every board has different capability so you should always say what hardware you are using.

The Atmel Sim works better in Atmel 7 but is still rubbish.

If you are using Atmel hardware you should buy an Atmel hardware debugger, then you can use it with Visual Micro in Atmel Studio.

In all cases of hardware debugging, support should be sought from the manufacturers. When hardware debug launches Visual Micro has not control of it. It just does whatever it is designed to do Smiley
