Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....

Is COM4 supposed to be at 9600? What speed is your code using?

9600 - yes correct. That is the speed the code uses (for an Arduino UNO).

I have tried this using a variety of different projects (and with VS loaded without any project) using a variety of different COM ports + baud rates - seems to have no effect.
It's always the same, the first serial monitor (irrespective of COM port) is always empty.

After IDE start, if you open the platform explorer before opening a port does this issue resolve?

Okay thanks we will have to add some messages. Apparently if you connect a 2nd serial and open that first (can close after) that will workaround.

Sorry replied to the wrong thread previously.

Version 1907.6.3 includes one change that will help us get to the issue. The issue might not be resolved but it illuminates one potential cause.

Also, if not already confirmed. Please confirm if using direct usb to pc or via usb hub.

Installed the 1907.6.3 version - still the same issues for me, but occurrences of where second (& third) serial monitor also open up blank are more frequent.

I've tried with a USB 2.0 hub and a USB 3.0 hub as well as with direct USB connection. No difference - same behaviour exhibited.

We managed to reproduce, I think this is resolved now. Sorry for the delay. This release should resolve but there will be another release where we try to address the original cause which is a timing issue when opening the tool window v's the tool window frame being created.

I installed the 1907.6.7 latest release and now serial monitor windows being displayed correctly. Only got time for a few quick tests as off out to work but do far so good.
