Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post
Support requests without the output above may be impossible to answer, so please help us to help you

VS2019 Hangs when selecting serial port

When I try to select the serial port in the vMicro menu, Visual Studio 2019 hangs completely and becomes non responsive. I then get a message stating that Visual Studio is busy. If I leave Visual Studio running, it eventually closes and reopens, but hangs again as soon as I try to select the serial port.
I have been opening Visual Studio and selecting "Continue without code". If I create a new Visual Micro project or try to open an existing Visual Micro project, Visual Studio hangs and pretty much does the same thing as above.

Please show a screen shot of the vMicro>General menu

Please also confirm the name and date of the driver from control panel > device manager

Silicon labs made a mistake when they published their 10.x driver. It can not be used via normal windows C# SerialPort code. It is for windows unverisal but not for windows 10

You need to install the 6.x version of the usb driver
