Hi,
using the boards manager from the VM explorer, updating the board version fails with the dialog in the attachment.
Using Arduino IDE it updates correctly.

Could you provide the JSON URL list you are using at present from Arduino and Visual Micro for this update?

Was it a specific version of the ESP8266 core you were updating to?

Hi,
here is the VM JSON:

http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json,https://dl.espre...

And the Arduino JSON:
https://d-a-v.github.io/esp8266/Arduino/package_esp8266com_index.json

I installed ESP8266 V2.6.2 core
When the dialog came up I checked in the staging directory and all the files had been downloaded, including the python files.

One unrelated point to note is that visual micro combines the list of board support urls from the arduino ide. It is not supported to have two different versions of a package if the board names are the same. You can do this by using the portable folder of an arduino ide that is a discssion for another thread. I suggest you only add urls to the arduino ideso that both the arduino ide and visual micro have the same list of boards.

I do not get an issue installed the latest 8266 using your url. What is your visual micro version? You can see it in Extension Manager or towards the end of tools options > vmicro. What is your Visual Studio IDE version?

I couldn't replicate with the latest release but we have not updated the ICSharpZip librrary since 1909.27 so I can't see why the more recent releases would be any different. You can use the Arduino IDE board manager if the issue continues or try the latest release.
