We are still struggling to replicate this issue on a clean install, and to remove any other issues would it be possible to:-

1) Close all vMicro + Arduino Instances
2) Delete "%LOCALAPPDATA%\arduino15" folder
3) Re-Install Arduino Application
4) Start Arduino and install the MattAirTech Board Package
5) Start VS and ensure the board is selected, try rebuilding the project.

If there are still problems can you post the updated build output from Visual Micro?

Would you mind confirming the version of Arduino you are using, and also the method of and source for installing the custom board definition file? If you have it working on your end, I'd like to replicate those steps.

Is the package that you installed the 1.6.18-beta-b1 varient? What is the JSON string that you used to install it? What version of Arduino are you using?

Thanks again.

I am using:

VS2019 + Arduino 1.8.12
MattAirTech 1.6.18-beta-b1 toolchain installed
vMicro 1.2020.0321-3

To get it to work in vMicro I had to re-install the board package within Visual Micro, after this it all worked as expected, amended instructions below:-

1) Close all vMicro + Arduino Instances
2) Delete "%LOCALAPPDATA%\arduino15" folder
3) Re-Install Arduino Application
4) Install Board Package (optional as repeated below)
5) Start VS and load vMicro Board Manager > Re-Install the Board Package
6) Rescan all toolchains or restart the IDE
7) Select the board, it should now compile as expected

We have found there was an issue with the directory structure when installing and detecting tools which have a mixture of tools from their own, and other toolchains.  This is the reason for it not working when installed via Arduino, and then working when installed via vMicro, they will both now behave the same.

This has been resolved in the latest release 20.03.21.18, available on the Latest Releases page.

Let us know if this resolves the issue fully from your perspective.
