Visual Micro installation in Visual Studio 2017

With Visual Micro (VM) downloaded, double clicking the .vsix file generates the error: "This extension is not installable on any currently installed products."

I have seen quite a few posts/responses on this subject and tried most if not all of the suggestions, but to no avail.

- Visual Studio 2017 : did a repair but after that double clicking VM.vsix generates the same message as shown above.
- tried to install from VS/Tools/Extensions and Updates: can't find VM
- tried VS/Tools/Extensions and Updates/Online: can't find VM.

Is there anything I have missed?
Your suggestions are most welcome.

Your VS 2017 probably needs update if it's very old Smiley

Please click Help>Check for updates.

Microsoft have made a lot of major changes to vs2017 since March last year when Vs2019 was released. We support vs2017 15.8+
