Serial debugger fails to start if source formatting is changed
Jun 19th, 2020 at 2:13am

Serial debugging fails if the setup function is defined -
Code:
void
setup()
{
}

Note that this is a perfectly valid construct in C and C++ and is often found.

The same problem occurs in Atmel Studio and Visual Studio 2019, however in Visual Studio I see a warning message -
Quote:
WARNING: Unable to find the start of the setup() method. This is required to initialize the software debugger.
which kind of indicates Visual Micro isn't parsing the source line correctly?

Thanks we will look into that. To use serial debugging we need to be able to find the setup method. We do have a new system ready to go that will handle the setup() over multiple lines but for now just change to:-

Code:
void setup()
{
}

Thanks
