VS 2017 stops working when VM license expires

Hi, I have the problem that Visual Studio 2017 stopped working because of expired VM license. I purchased a personal license for 3 PCs which expired on 22th July. All three installations of Visual Studio 2017 hang during start. I could only use the repair function from the VS installer to get VS start again.
How could I solve the problem for my other installation without "resetting" VS?

Just one thought. If you hadn't upgraded your visual micro for a while there did used to be an issue where the dialog to inform you of trial end showed behind the ide. That then caused the ide to appear locked.

Moving the ide to the side reveals the message dialog and allows the OK button to be clicked. Then the ide is fine.

I suspect this might be what is happening?

Hi Tim,
thank you - deleting the registry key worked and I could install a new license but all the settings are gone now.
I'm using VS 2017 Community 15.9.37
.NET Framework 4.8.04084

Yes that why I posted about the old release needing you to move the ide to see the on screen OK box.

An alternative would have been to update Visual Micro via the Gallery. That issue was solved a long time ago.
