Adafruit Qt Py ESP32S2

Hello,

i am trying to use a newly purchased "Arduino Qt Py ESP32S2" board to use with a project. The vendor provided a board Library url that actually populates the boards in "Arduino IDE" and use it.

In Arduino IDE, the board can be selected from "ESP32 Board" -> "Arduino Qt Py ESP32-S2".
The board url is: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/gh-pages/package_esp32...

and all the boards are listed there.

When i try to use that board in Visual Micro from "Visual Studio 2022", i can see most of the boards except this one, no matter what i try to use, that specific board does not show up in the list.
There are some similar boards that shows up, but that is not compatible with the actual hardware. It throws an error that the signatures is incorrect, but when i use the one from Arduino IDE, it works flawlessly. Could you please let me know why this is happening and how to resolve it?

Thank you,

Thanks for the report.

Can you confirm this is the "Adafruit QT Py ESP32-S2" board you are looking to use from the ESP32 Board package?

Have you restarted Visual Micro since installing the board package in the Arduino IDE?

Thanks for confirming.

Does it not show in the Micro Explorer > Installed tab, when searching for "qt py"?

Can you confirm what other Board Package URLs you have in Arduino IDE, and if present in Visual Micro?

Also please confirm what version of Visual Micro you are using from the Extensions > Manage Extensions > Installed (It will show on the right hand side).

Thanks for the detail, can you confirm what is set on the IDE Locations screen for your "Arduino 1.6/1.8 (Alt)" configuration?

From the last screenshot it doesn't seem to be seeing the installed ESP32 board package.

taking into consideration, this settings works for the rest of the boards & libraries, i do not have any issue with it, except with this board showing.

If you clear the "Optional Sketchbook Folder" field, and the "Optional Physical Folder for downloaded board packages" field, this should then detect the esp32 board package installed.

If you restart Visual Studio it should rescan all of the board packages when it starts up.
