Developing against an emulator

It's kind of annoying to have lots of wires dangling off my laptop when I'm developing... especially when the cat lays down on them and disconnects the usb!

I'd really like to be able to do my alpha and beta development against an emulator, and then move to using an actual device for final clean-up work.

Does anyone have suggestions or tips to help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Hello.
Let's not forget that the project is based on Arduino.
The main advantage simplicity for beginners.
Emulator not always well.
Best of all directly with the device.
I am very happy with the project Visual Micro.
This my private judgement.
Excuse for bad English. Cheesy

I have personally never found a  simulated environment useful at all. There are far to many things to setup before the simulations works and for the effort that takes, it is just not worth it.

Arduino with Visual Micro is as close to perfect that you can get. Strap the wire up if they bug you that much Smiley
