Hi,

I have installed Visual Micro on Visual Studio Pro and it works just fine. As my VS licence will expire soon I want to move to Atmel Studio. I have installed Atmel Studio 6.1. I have copy the ALT+DELETE patch to a temp file, unzipped it and copied the files to the location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Atmel Studio 6.1\extensions\Application and I have tried the switch in the startaddres at location
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Atmel Studio 6.1\atmelstudio.exe" but still I do not get the Arduino stuff in properties and in tools. I also do not see Arduino in the open project menu. What am i doing wrong ?
Thanks for your help.
Roland

Hi Roland,

1)

I don't understand, what does this mean?

Quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Atmel Studio 6.1\extensions\Application and I have tried the switch in the startaddres at location

2)

Would you please install Visual Micro 1305.21 from our codeplex DOWNLOADS>(Beta channel)

It sounds like the installer did not work for you. A few users, especially 32 bit had a problem with the initial Visual Micro installer for Atmel Studio. The same people report that 1305.21 is fine.

If you still encounter problems I will tell you how to manually force the plugin to load.

Look forward to hearing.

Hi Tim,

I have installed VM1305.21 and it still works fine with Visual Studio but not with Atmel Studio. I cannot see Visual Micro in TOOLS so i cannot configure it.
I work in WIN 8 32 bits.

In one of the messages on the forum you described a first time startup switch for Atmel Studio. I have tried that too but without success.

Appreciate your help.

Roland

Ho Roland,

It sounds like the installer got a path wrong

1)
Please look in Tools>Options>Environment>Add-ins/Macro Security

On the right hand side you will see a list of "Add-in File Paths"

There needs to be a path in this list that points to the Visual Micro program files folder. If you see an incorrect path you can remove it, please add the correct path

The path is based on the path you set when the installer runs, the default path is "C:\Program files (x86)\Visual Micro\Visual Micro for Arduino"

You might need to re-start Atmel Studio after changing the path list

2)

If the addin is loaded correctly then it should appear in the list displayed when you click "Tools>Addin Manager". If you see the Visual Micro entry please ensure the checkbox to the left and to the right of the words Visual Micro are checked

Thanks

Good news Tim,

It seems to work ! I have the Visual Micro stuff in options and I can open Arduino projects. I can upload my sketches and they run.

I also see that the debugger is registered. Do i have to install the debugger again in Atmel Studio or should it work already? I am new with the debugger and need some more experience.

I will play with Atmel Studio for some days and let you know my findings.

I very much apprecciated your fast response and help.

Keep up the good work.

Best regards
Roland

Excellent,

Sounds like you have everything installed just fine.

I expect you installed the Atmel Studio patch (zip), that only needed to be done once and only affects the visibility of Visual Micro project properties.

Best of luck and thanks for the update
