Expression Window Font -- can I change it?

Hello,

I use Win7Home which encourages use of maximum native resolution, on my PC that's 1920 x 1080 pixels.

When viewing the addin's Expression or Explorer window within VS2008, I experience fonts smaller than other IDE windows.

Changing fonts within VS2008 Tools-Options-Fonts and Colors didn't seem to affect these two windows.

Could you suggest a way to size Arduino-Addin Expression and Explorer window fonts to match up with the rest of my system? I seek a solution that avoids changing screen resolution.

Thanks,

stockvu

Hi,

This can be looked at for the next release (i hope)

Where/how do you currently set the font/sizes etc for current windows such as the properties window?

EDIT

I use the same res as you. So which fonts in the example below have you changed or what is different on your machine?

Thanks

Hi,

I'll have to do some snooping to get those answers. I have taken snapshots but don't see any way to upload them in this post, all I get is markup placeholders. On preview I am not asked to upload the images, I don't have a lot of Forum experience.

I do notice your snapshot seems to show Expression Window text in a semi-bold fashion where I see a very thin stroke on the letters.

My Property and Solution Explorer windows appear to track my Desktop Icon-Text Font, but I'll need some time to get my facts straight.

more later...

I have added one of your images to your post, you can delete the image if you don't want it public.

Your default fonts seem very large, the windows grid control used in visual micro for expressions is using the standard font that all .net apps use.

I can add support to alter the font but I think you will also need the ability to save column widths because a larger font will require more space.

Hi again,

I have investigated this font Size issue and here are my findings.

Within my IDE for VS2008 (under Win7-64), I have set the Tools->Options->Fonts and Colors->[all selections] as follows;

(1) ALL Fonts except 'Environment Font' were set to Size=11 points, Face=MS Reference Sans Serif.

(2) The 'Environment Font' was set to the above Font Face but at 9 point Size.
This setting affected my Solution Explorer and Properties Windows.

(3) It was essential (!) to restart Visual-Studio for ALL the affected fonts to render at the applied settings.

My PC uses a 1920x1080 graphics display (native resolution).

At no time did these settings (which is ALL I see in VS2008) affect either the Visual-Micro Explorer or Visual-Micro Expressions windows -- which rendered at a size (apparently) smaller than 9 points.

While it may seem odd my Font Size settings are larger than what may be usual, please understand I'm a retired Baby-Boomer (an old buzzard) with vision issues.

best regards,

stockvu

Thanks for the info. I understand why you like large fonts, it makes sense for the additional tool windows to use the same font as the main system. Hopefully this will be included in the next version due over the next few weeks.
