I installed Visual Micro for Arduino on a laptop has i7 processor and installed Win8.1 OS, Arduino IDE 1.5.4, Visual Studio 2013 Professional. All updates have already been done.

While I was using Visual Micro successfully before a couple of week, I faced a problem that Arduino related toolbar items in Visual Studio became inactive and I couldn’t use Visual Micro properly later on.

I will try to explain in the order of your questions in your E-mail.
1. Visual Micro entry is ticked in add-in manager.
2. Yes  update Visual Studio 2013 pro. But problem was exist before the update.
3. Visual Micro line exist in the Tools menu. Sub menu items Boards, Serial Ports, Other Serial Ports, Programmers are also seen, but all items are still inactive. Just "-" sign appears when mouse pointer located to each one of sub menu items.

Yes, Arduino IDE version is written in a bracket in the menu item: "Visual Micro (Arduino 1.5.x)"

Thank you for the email information.

The addin looks inactive. Please try to un-install Visual Micro using Control Panel>Add or Remove programs>visual micro.

Then after running the reinstall please ensure that Tools>Addin Manager>Visual Micro has 3 checkboxes checked.

I don't know why vs2013 needed a re-install, I guess some of it was missing but it's good that you persisted and found the solution.
