Where Does The Binary File Go?

I'm using Atmel Studio with VisualMicro.  I want to create some form of stripped "binary" (raw binary image, Intel or Motorola HEX, etc.) that I can program directly into the target device, without using any of the Arduino tools (I've already written an Arduino-to-Arduino programming function that I will port to the PC).  But, when I do a compile in Atmel Studio, where does the object file go?  There's nothing in the project directory that remotely resembles any kind of binary or object file.  Where is it hiding, and in what format (Elf?)?

Regards,
Ray L.
