Visual assist ?

One more - after reloading Studio I no longer get Visual Assist to react after hovering over the item with mouse – one of the most useful features of VA.
I did check the options but no luck .
What did I missed?

Also I cannot get to VA users group by clicking on the icon/ button.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please either run the visual micro repair or run the visual micro uninstall then reinstall. Ina ll cases your settings will be preserved but it sounds like the VisualAssist intellisense is not active for Arduino files.

The installer updates a registry key for VisualAssist and .ino files. Please close Atmel Studio prior to performing this task.

If this remains a problem we can tell you how to manually add the setting.

Just run repair and it did not help.
So the options are another download or just delete and reinstall. Bummer.

The re-install of Visual Micro is very easy and does not remove your personal settings.

Let's be sure you have a problem. If you type Serial. do you see a list of members for the Serial class?

Thanks

Well I have painted myself into a corner.
I downloaded new copy and attempted to install it.
It does not want to install, only uninstall or repair.
I have seen this on some "free" apps which do not remove stuff from registry. Some time trials do that to and than it is hard to reinstall bad download.

Now after it is all done ( Studio) I cannot add Arduino IDE to it.
two things - the install keeps failing due to file error and on top of that the little green symbol in extension manager keep telling me that I already "OWN" a copy.
So - Studio is OK but no Arduino IDE. The doc saiz it will "automatically " ask for link to Arduino exe. But it does not. IDE. I am not doing that well installing it again.

I managed to download and install older version of VisualMicro.
Now if I can get Studio to read Arduino boards I be happy camper.
If I only new that Studio needs VisualMicro and than Arduino IDE it would have made more sense.
I hope the updates work in this mess of applications, including VS2010, which so far does not want to play -SP1.

Hello, the installer is intelligent. It knows you have installed already. If you would like to re-install for any reason you can click uninstall or repair. If you uninstall then next time you will have option to install.

Best of luck

Totally wrong, sorry. There is not "install". The only option is to "repair" and it just won't fix things. I need total wipe of anything associated with Studio. When you do "repair" it tells to add about 10 items - including VisualAssist extension , but when you do "uninstall" the list is about 5 items and AVR only.  VisualAssitst is not being uninstalled at all.

Is there a way to run VisualMicro without Studio?

Hello you do not need to install/uninstall Atmel Studio.

We are only talking about running the Visual Micro installer again to reset some registry keys.

Visual Micro can be uninstalled as previously mentioned but also via windows>control panel>add or remove programs>Visual Micro

Making progress, reloaded VisualMicro and got the Studio to download all ATM boards.
Repaired Studio, again, and still have no VisualkAssits intellisense, but getting messages that the "symbol is undefined".
so I can edit and compile / run.
What is next step to get VA intellisense to work?
Running out of options.

IMPORTANT
It works as expected in ***vsarduino.h file!!! VA outline tab!! And VA View works too!!

Hi,

Not sure what all ATM boards means.

Questions

Have you installed the Arduino Ide and set the location in Visual Micro? If so then which Arduino app is showing? Arduino 1.0.x or Arduino 1.5.x?

Have you got a list of Arduino boards showing on the tool bar?

Thanks

I got 1.5.x selected and all boards are showing.
Just the VA intelisense on the edit tab is not doing anything.
Getting "symbol is undefined" error messages there.

Ok questions

1) Do you see intellisense if you type the following:-

Code
Select All
Serial.

2) Do you see color coding?

Thanks

Ok, I have added the file to a rar. I think the browsers won't allow a .reg file.

Please unpack the rar and double click the .reg

Thanks

Sorry to be so dense, where is the .rar file?
PS I found a note that there WAS an issue with VA not running properly if not used soon after the install.
Hope this is not a repeat of that since I messed around repairing and uninstalling. When I get this fixed I would like to post a review. Where would be the best place - in the download view or here?
