Cannot "Watch" Breakpoints.

Dear guys, just installed VisualMicro because i hate the original IDE. I tried to trace variable changes during runtime , but at first, there was no " watch" entry in debug menu. So i added it with  costumization, now the entry is there but is always grey and cannot click on it!!! So i can't look at my variables , that was the top motivation why i moved to visualmicro Cheesy
Can anyone help me?

Hi,

I am sorry for the confusion we have some better documentation coming soon.

The Watch menu command is not available in a C++ project which is what we use.

Did you see our existing documentation for the debugger?

and the Youtube video after the first section shows the debugger basics

there is also the search on visualmicro.com which will search the wiki

We do intend to add our own "Watch" menu commands sometime soon but hopefully you see the "hybrid" message and expressions syntax that Visual Micro supports in the breakpoint "When Hit" property such as:-

Quote:
Hi there from an Arduino. Millis is currently {millis()}

Hope this helps

ps: You can write a macro and add your own Watch command to do this if you have the inclination but you would have to find the info about how to do it

Hi, thank you for your really fast answer!!!  I also tried to use breakpoints \tracepoints with the "printing message " option as you suggested,  but nothing stills pop up on the screen...Tried to uninstall -reinstall -repair, but nothing changes...quite strange.

Hi,

Maybe your question should be how to start debugging?

Can you tell me what you have done to switch on debugging?

Do you have a breakpoint in your code?

Did you select a different configuration to "Release"? For example did you select "Debug" on the tool bar?

When you press F5 does the output say "compiling debug version"?

Please press F5 and post the output so that we do not have to guess.

Thanks

I'm sorry, really really sorry. I found out there was a problem with the Visual Studio 2012 layout file. Replacing it and resetting the layout, now all works fine. Stupid me. Cheesy
