wish list: "remember" serial terminal windows' (plural) placement

wish list item:
When a solution is saved, include the info needed to, on the next load of that solution, to restore the serial terminal windows to their place and size. I usually have 2+ serial terminal windows open, paned vertically. This is one of the best features of VM/VS. But it would be convenient for the placements to be "remembered".

Hi,

Currently the serial tool window placement, doc state, size etc are all supposed to be retained per COM port number.

I just tried opening atmel, opening a terminal and moving it then re-starting and it returned to the required position.

Then I docked the window and re-started. Again it was docked when next opened.

Are the windows open when you shutdown Atmel Studio? Maybe the visibility is causing.

This is actually a function of Visual Studio, Visual Micro simply allocates a unique ide for each terminal window then Visual Studio uses that to store the position settings. After generating a unique window/com[n] id Visual Micro saves this to the registry and re-uses the next time the com[n] window opens.

Please check task manager after shutting down atmel studio. The atmelstudio.exe should have terminated cleanly?

It does remember the terminal window placements. Maybe this is asking too much for a lazy person.. but  what it doesn't do is automatically open the same terminal window(s) that were open and placed when last exited . Or last exited that project.

Just a convenience.

Oh I see. That can be added to the enhancement list. It could be an optional setting.

Thanks
