Hello,

Atmel Studio announces 2 upgrades
Atmel ARM GNU Toolchain and Atmel Software Framework

In view of latest installation issues, do you advise me to do these upgrades or denie them ?

Best regards

Roland

Ho Roland,

Thanks for the question!

It should make no difference to Visual Micro if these updates are applied or not. Visual Micro does not, by default, use any of the Atmel Studio tools.

Visual Micro uses the tools installed when the Arduino Ide is installed which ensures an identical compile to the Arduino Ide.

The worst that could ever happen might be that Atmel Studio decides to re-create all it's registry keys and settings. In which case Visual Micro might not load or color syntax might be missing for .ino/.pde files. We are working on plugging this possibly but it doesn't happen often.

It is easily fix by closing the Ide, running the Visual Micro installer and clicking Remove then running is again and clicking Install. Your Visual Micro settings will be preserved so it is a fairly painless task.

Thanks again

Hi Tim,

As everything seems to work well now I'd rather denie the upgrades and continue to work as is.

Best regards

Roland
