old topic? .hex versions.. confusion
Aug 10th, 2014 at 6:35am

Visual Micro, AS 6.1, Win 7.
When I do a rebuild to force a new .hex file to be created, the confusion is that the .hex in the folder
C:\Users\steve\AppData\Local\VMicro\Arduino\Builds\fileXdemo\Anarduino
gets a new date/time in file last modified (I do a window refresh too).
But the .hex is the usual place I look:
C:\Users\steve\Documents\Arduino\fileXdemo\Debug
is one version back. Each time I rebuild, this happens, as if something copies the old version to the Debug folder then builds a new version in the ..user\appdata\... folder.

My program in development pushes a new program to be flashed via wireless. The users chooses which .hex to be used.

Is the one in the Debug folder to be ignored? That Debug folder, being in the same tree as the source code just compiled, is logically where one would expect to find it!

The other appdata/... path name varies from work session to work session. The program remembers last-used but that seems to be futile?

If I can remember to do TWO rebuilds in quick succession, maybe I'll get the right code in the Debug folder?

Hi,

I think you need to upgrade your Visual Micro version. This was a bug when the "copy hex to output folder" was implemented in the January 2014 release.

Thanks
