Display colored text in Editor?

I can't seem to figure out how to set up the options to display various colors for  keywords, comments, etc. in the IDE editor. I "think" I have made the correct choices in the Visual Assist Options and the Atmel Studio Tools options, but the only success I have had is in Line Numbers and "matched/mis-matched Brackets" !!

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW I installed the VM add on yesterday and it is DYNAMITE!! I have been using the Arduino  IDE for Arduino boards for a few years now and also the Atmel Studio for code writing for small AVR devices. It is wonderful to have the availability of the debugger tool for the Arduino!.

Best

Hi David,

Thanks very much for the great feedback it really helps.

Out of interest which option did you click to switch on line numbers? I thought I had tried the VisualAssisX option for this previously which destroyed the +/- code blocks but I just used the option in "tools>options>text editor>gcc>line numbers" which works well.

As concerns colors I am sorry to say this is left entirely to the Ide and any plugins (other than VM) that you install to control this. These are the options I can find:-

1) Tools>Options>Environment>Fonts & Colors
2) VisualAssistX>Options>Fonts & Colors

Changing all these colors worked for me but I found that Atmel Studio "sometimes" overwrites the Visual Micro settings and causes all color code to fail for .ino files, all text became black & white for me at one stage.

Normally re-starting the Ide would cause Visual Micro to recreate some registry settings but in this case the settings affected are added by the Visual Micro installer and are not part of the start-up.

So if you have black & white text, close the Ide, run the Visual Micro installer and click remove then run again and click Install. This will fix it and your settings will be preserved.

I'll the auto-repair for these settings to the next release of Visual Micro.

I hope this makes sense.

Tim;

Uninstalling the add on and installing again fixed the problem. I now have Color!

Thanks
