Arduino 1.6.0

1. The "software" (Due)  still reads 1.5.x
but
2. The boards pull down is empty
and
3. The Arduino project cannot be build

So - is it not good time to come up with
a) better coordination with ATmel
b) some generic designation for software AKA AVR  / ARM ( Arduino 2.0.x is allegedly "in works" ).

PS And while you at it - what's with the goofy _ for Due download the latest beta directly from VM - since there is not special beta for Due on THIS site and the sofware gets downloaded from Arduino site anyway.

Always so much confusion!

The Arduino download page has 1.0.6 or 1.5.8 beta. So you would need to select the 1.0.x option in Visual Micro and not the 1.5.x option. Otherwise you won't see any boards.

The 2.0 version of Arduino is an alternative on-board web based ide. It compiles and uploads from the arm to the avr in the same way the windows ide's do. I can't see the 2.0 becoming the only option because people like to use the ide of their choice. In any event arduino for avr/sam uses tool chain files provided by atmel which are not aware of any arduino version and gcc is not arduino either. So I don't really understand you point about the 2.0.

The atmel gallery text is slightly out of date but the latest version on visual micro is required for arduino due which is only available when using the arduino 1.5.x beta back end.

Atmel and Arduino do not notify me of new releases, they have no automated mechanism for that neither do they pay me to produce the software.

The people who have purchased the visual micro upgrade help fund the time to create and support this project. the majority of people use the free tool but most are not so easily confused or rude. Thankfully  Smiley

So basically I am confused and you do not care if your product does not play well with ATmel.
Sorry I have wasted your time.

I care very much that the product works well in Atmel Studio, which is does. Thousands of users are using it happily.

You are confused over which version of Arduino you are using and for that reason you have selected the wrong Arduino Ide version in the Visual Micro configuration.

If you have a serious question please feel free to ask it but please do not rant and rave and make misleading statements.

Thanks
