Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post
Support requests without the output above may be impossible to answer, so please help us to help you

Help? "adding child menus to this item will enable it"?

I'm an Arduino newbie.

I Just installed Atmel followed by Visual Studios.


Why is it that under "Tools/Visual Micro" "Boards is grayed out, and when I hover over it the message says ""adding child menus to this item will enable it"?

I've searched the forums and Google with no solution.


Your help is very appreciated. Thanks

Hi DoeJoe,

Visual studio shows that message when a menu is empty.

This normally means the wrong arduino version is installed for the ide you have configured in Visual Micro.

Which arduino ide version are you using? and which Application name is showing on the visual micro tool bar?

I have Arduino 1.6 in the tool bar and 1.6 installed on my Windows 8.1 machine.

The Arduino version numbers aren't so good right now. Everyone is confused between 1.0.6 and 1.6. Duh!
