Doesn't seem to support platfrom.rewrite.keys

Arduino IDE made a change in 1.6.2 and moved the ARM and Intel (etc) compilers to a new location.

This broke any third party hardware files that used these compilers

In 1.6.3 the IDE team added a new feature / work around called platform.rewrite.keys which modifies texts in platform.txt based on rules in the platform.rewrite.keys file

This feature doesn't seem to be available in Visual Micro so any hardware that uses the ARM or Intel compiler wont work  unless its a specific version for 1.6.2 or newer

Funny. Just adding rewrite keys at the moment. New release in a few hours.

By the way doesn't the intel and sam stuff come via the boards manager now?

Yes.

Intel and SAM are now part of the boards manager, however any existing 3rd party hardware files that use either compiler would currently need to use platform.rewrite.keys

Yep all done thanks. The new release will be made shortly along with a few other minor fixes.

Thanks again, it was good to have an example that failed. Saved me setting up a test.

Please bear in mind this is a new feature of the Arduino Ide which is part of huge changes that were released by Arduino.cc without beta.  Visual Micro will always take a little time before new items can be implemented. There are a lot of users of visual micro and we try to ensure a smooth transition which does not mean throwing in new features without professional beta
