Vs 2015 Extension
Aug 4th, 2015 at 4:16pm

Hello.
Excellent work.
Thanks Tim.

Although the version of Alpha, makes a good impression.
Improved user interface.
And I think more responsive when changing platforms and used boards.
Maybe it's deeper integration into Visual Studio 2015.
Other arrangement Visual  micro  is not in the Program Files
But maybe ,I'm wrong.
Good job.
Thank you Tim.

Thanks for the post. It's appreciated.

I think it is faster switching platform because Combo box lists are faster to manage than sub menus. In the previous versions the sub menus had to be drawn 1 x each library, 1 x each board, 1 x each programmer. Maybe 100 menus. For Combo we just give String[] of text/names Smiley

Question

What location did the extension install into for you?

Thanks

Okay this is controlled by the Visual Studio installer. Visual Micro can only specify install "for all users" or install for "current user"

All users automatically installs into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio [VS_VER]\Common7\IDE\Extensions

Current user installs into MyDocuments\Microsoft Visual Studio [VS_VER]\Extensions

Which of these two locations do you think is good?

Hmm.
To be honest I find it difficult to answer this question.
What's the advantage.
These paths.
Or I do not understand something

Oh sorry.

If install in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio [VS_VER]\Common7\IDE\Extensions then Gelius59 and Admin and other pc users will see the extension in Visual Studio

If install in myDocuments then only Gelius59 will see extension.

For me it does not matter.
I have only one PC user.
And that's me. Smiley
Other users simply do not have.

Yes but there are many people like you. For students on shared pc it's easier.

I think in the future we will have two downloads in the visualstudio.gallery. "admin" and "user". I think this will be better.

I agree.
Now I understand your question.
Two installation options "admin" and "user" will be better.

If I may contribute, I think you should name the two options "All Users" and "This User". It may be easier for people to understand. I agree with the two installation options as well, as I have 30 users on my computers and want to install it once for everyone.
