Hi,

I've seen this error a couple of times for other users. It's something to do with an invalid visual studio install. This is a VS error when it attempts to unpack and install the extension.

I recently found this article describing the same problem when installing the Microsoft Team Explorer extension.

I hope it helps and sorry I can't be more help but interested to hear how you get on or if you think I can help.

I also recommended installing Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition which is free

Thanks,

I did install install the community edition on my other computer running Windows 7 and have your software working just fine with the ESP8266, and may I say a good program since I don't really like Eclipse.

Also installed on my laptop running Windows 10 but it did not fix the problem. I tried the older versions and the install finished but it does not show in Atmel Studio.

Will let you know
