VM install fails for VS2017

I previously used VM under VS2015 and it worked great. I upgraded to VS2017, selected C++ desktop and C++ Android. Install appeared to work, no errors, but Visualmicro does not appear anywhere in the VS2017 IDE. Extensions and Updates show VM as installed. I'm running Arduino 1.8.2 IDE. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,

Does extensions and updates show "Arduino IDE for Visual Studio" as installed? There is a GDb option in the list which would be the wrong one.

Please confirm is anything shows in "tools>options>visual micro"

Thanks

Oh yeah! I installed the GDB, not the IDE, derp! Installed the IDE and everything is much better now. GDB looks really interesting so I ordered a Zero to try it out. I also have a J-link, would that allow debugging of regular Uno or Mega? Thanks for your help and excellent response time.

Great. Yes we are going to make the extension names more obvious. I think it's an easy mistake.

The Uno and Mega are not so easy because I think they need fuses to be changed and can cause the boards to become useless without high power programmer.

The Zero should work well out of the box as will a few other boards. If you get a board that should work with j-link but isn't known to vm gdb you can add the config yourself to make it work. In which case please open a forum thread in the gdb section so we can work through a solution. Then it can be included in main builds. Over time we should build standard support for as many boards as possible but each has it's differences.

I'll look forward to trying GDB when my Zero arrives. Thanks again for your assistance and a great product.
