I don't now if this is a VM or a VS issue, please let me know what you might need if it's a VM issue.

I noticed occasionally that when a build failed I'd get the "build failed" message at the bottom of the output window, but there were no actual error messages.  I usually search for these with the find command in the output window rather than plough through all the output, but on these occasions, nothing would be found.  On immediately building again, the error messages would now be there.

It happened so infrequently, and I could find nothing on Google, so I let it go.  However, in the last few days, it has started to happen almost 50% of the time, so I am compiling almost twice every time - which is of course very annoying.  Any insight into what is happening would be appreciated.

I will email you two files of the output window contents for good and bad cases.

Thanks for the help.  I did as you asked.  I built about 10 times with and without errors.  Errors were reported.  Just for fun I turned on the compiler warnings again, and did another 10 or so builds, with errors being reported.

Also pleased to find a way to turn off those annoying and unhelpful warnings  about C++17.
