WROVER-KIT hardware debug fail

I'm in VS2022 trying to get ESP-WROVER-KIT hardware debugging going with a simple demo. It compiles and flashes fine and then this on the output window:
1>------ Skipped Deploy: Project: test, Configuration: Debug ARM ------
1>Project not selected to build for this solution configuration
========== Deploy: 0 succeeded, 0 failed, 1 skipped ==========
========== Deploy completed at 4:45 PM and took 00.340 seconds ==========

and an error popup with this;
Unable to start debugging. GDB exited unexpectedly with exit code 1 (0x1).

here is the setup:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WcZsRRk7Fm7FhmHoe33iuurfo19_Gwyp/viewusp=sharin...
thanks for any help.

Thanks for the report.

Can you try the latest release (24.0607.02) from the top of the below board:
https://www.visualmicro.com/forums/YaBB.pl?board=VS_ARDUINO_EXT_RELEASES

If you still have issues, can you attach the complete output as a text file from the Output > Micro Build window, after completing a build, and attempting to start the debugging session, so we can review the full environment setup?

Also if there is any further output in the Output > Debug window please also attach this.
