Recommended board for development

Im starting to wonder (having read a few online pages) that the issues im having might be with the ESP 32 boards ive got.  (Possibly clutching at straws).

Are there any recommended boards for development - and I guess for post development - whats best for developing might not be best once you have written the software right ?

As a rule of thumb with Arduino compatible boards, the official boards from a manufacturer (or endorsed by them/their design) are the best option as they use the correct tolerance parts and the same schematic from the designer.

It does often mean spending a little more on the board, however it can reduce time spent with odd issues, and the documentation and any known workarounds are easier to find and navigate.
