Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post

Visual Micro Installed version

How do i determine the installed version on my computer? tools/options/Visual micro- version says  "This version can be ignored. Use tools>Extensions and updates to view the version" but this location does not exist...

Sorry the message is misleading in the Tools > Options screen (for historical reasons).

The version shown there is correct, and as it is not showing in Extension Manager I assume you are using AS7/VS2017/VS2019.

If you use both the Version and Version Minor together it shows the exact release you are using (e.g. Version: 2.2026.0708  Version Minor: 3 is the release version 2026.9708.3).

What version is that? 2025.0721.4?

Thats 2025.0721.4 so about a year old, which IDE are you using Visual Micro within?

Thanks for confirming the version, and it should show in Extensions > Manage Extensions > Installed.

If you go to Extensions > Manage Extensions > Available you will see the latest released version of "Arduino IDE for Visual Studio 2022+" (ie Visual Micro) available for install (v2026.0708.2201).

If you cannot see that for some reason, the VSIX can also be downloaded from Microsoft Marketplace directly:-
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=VisualMicro.ArduinoIDEforVis...

If installing the VSIX manually ensure to right click it and Open With > Visual Studio Version Selector to avoid potential conflicts if AS7/Microchip Studio is installed.

I found it and told it to update.  How do i know when it has successfully updated? It just says cancel update and there is not a progress bar?

Extensions install when you restart vs. Its queued. Vs extension installer is not the most intuitive system.

oh, ok i did a shut down and restarted but the version still shows 2.25.0721.4?

Nevermind I had to do it a second time and now it seem to be installing the update.
