Thanks sorry I wasn't clear, those were in the output you provided. I was hoping to see screen shot of the installed packages on 1st tab of the platform explorer.

I've seen you image with 3 packages showing. That's different to the screen shot you sent earlier of the installed packages in windows explorer.

That made me revisit your build properties and I had missed your paths were showing as C:\Users\chris\AppData\Local\arduino15\packages\packages\

Notice the duplicate \packages path.

I suspect you have entered an alternative packages path in the visual micro IDE Locations. Clear the path if you have set it. Out of interest, please let us know what was entered into that path.

That means visual micro is looking somewhere else for packages and you must have used boards manager to install them separately to what the arduino ide installed. we should share the same packages folder, it's the default.

If that's not the issue it means we are incorrectly reading the arduino 2 config files. Switch the sketch to use Visual Micro (No IDE) instead of Arduino 2 if you want to work without confusion of Arduino IDE config files. That's all we use from the Arduino IDE v2 system. and the config files only optionally specify platform and sketchbook locations. It's almost irrelavent if Arduino is installed or not.

Thanks

Thanks for the email.

You should leave the optional folder for downloaded board packages empty. Let's see what you see in board manager when you do that.

As far as I can see this is potentially an invalid path C:\Users\chris\AppData\Local\arduino15\packages

Your current windows user folder potentially is "C:\Users\chris woods" not "C:\Users\chris". One of the screen shots in your email shows it.

1) Clear the path from IDE locations
2) In "Tools>options>visual Micro>Applications and Locations" make sure there is no value set.

This will ensure Visual Micro uses either Arduino 2 paths or if using Visual Micro (No IDE) it will ensure the default user path that windows feeds us is the right path.

If that doesn't help then please enable compile verbose in arduino ide file>preferences. then build in arduino ide and email or post the output as a file.

Thanks

And also note that optional field is for arduino15 folder not the packaged sub folder. There are other folders that are used. Not just packages but also staging. So clearing the path is best course of action
