Downgrade from VS2012 to VS 2010

Hello Visual Micro:

Having issues trying to reinstall 1208.19 after installing the upgrade alpha version for VS 2012. In short 1208.19 will not install. Have un-installed Visual Micro from control panel and any leftover folders.

The installation process proceeds fine but the plug in does not appear in VS 2010. The  "Program Files\Visual Micro\Visual Micro for Arduino" folder does not include any dll's? Have tried a number of times and same thing.

Suspect some errant files, registry settings left over from the un-install of VS2012 alpha plugin messing up the installation process.

Hi Bryan,

Not sure why that is, what happens if you delete the vm program files folder? or run the installer as admin?

Anyway there is not difference between the two version for 2010. .19 contains two sets of dlls for 2008 and 2010 and the latest codeplex version contains 3 sets of dlls 2008,2010,2012. The code is the same.

Were you having problems in 2010?

Have deleted the VM folders, same thing. Not sure what you mean installing as admin, I am the admin on the pc.

No, had no issues on 2010 until I installed VS 2012 and the corresponding plug in. Will not allow me to downgrade. I do notice that previous there was two uninstall entries in control panel. Now only one appears so I am pretty sure the install procedure is not completely installing.

Did you install the debug stuff. I wonder if it is failing to remove a visual micro file from the windows gac.

I need to so some testing over the next few days.

I assume you have tried removing both entries from control panel and then installing?

By admin I mean right click msi and select "Run as administrator" but as you say it might not help but worth a try.

The msi doesn't do much so it's hard to see why it objects. It simply copies a few files and sets a few reg entries non of which specify a version

Problem solved. Operator error Embarrassed Embarrassed

I assume the file VisualMicroDebugUpgrade.msi installer was all that was required, but it appears that it's a add on to the installation package ArduinoForVisualStudio.msi.  Later for the plugin and the former to add the debugging capabilities.  Lips Sealed
