I downloaded all that's needed (Atmel, Visual Micro, Arduino ide ).
The problem is when I go to file in Atmel and then new I don't see Arduino projects. I had removed all programs and downloaded again. Still the same

Hi,

The most frequent cause of this is selecting the wrong arduino version when configuring the Ide location in Visual Micro

Please confirm which Arduino Ide version you are using and which Ide name you configured in Visual Micro.

Thanks

Just not working for me.
1. Downloaded Atmel 6.2
2. Downloaded Arduino 1.0.6
3. Downloaded Visual Micro.
Still no Arduino projects listed under File>New.
What automatically shows on one row is:
Arduino 1.0x>Arduino Uno>Com 4.
Any ideas

Oh sorry I read your message to quickly and thought you were saying you had no boards but you do because you can see the "Uno"

Okay no Arduino projects on "file>new". Are you expecting to create a new project or open an existing arduino project?

Did you read the "First Steps" in the "Tutorials & Wiki" tab above (or "Documentation" link at the top of visualmicro.com is the same)?

You can ignore the initial two "First Steps" because you have completed them.

You will read there are various ways to "create a new" or "open an existing" Arduino sketch project. There is a simple "File>New>Sketch Project" and you should find a couple of Visual Micro entries in the "File>New>Project" dialog.

It would help to understand which of the steps do not work for you or which of the menu or dialog items are not appearing for you?

If you are expecting to open a sketch project that already exists on your pc created by the arduino ide or ano tool or are trying to create a project?

Sorry but I'm struggling to understand what you are trying to do????

Thanks

I think I understand what your saying.
When I look at all the You tube tutorials, it looks as  though that after downloading it automatically shows up in the project drop down menu as Arduino projects along with sketch projects.
Do I need to manually add projects like Blink for it to show.
I apologize but I'm new to this software but not programming.

Okay I think I am understanding a bit more.

It sounds like you are referring to the examples that are installed when you install the arduino ide.

So you would not "create a new project" to work with these examples. You would be opening an existing sketch project.

The examples in the video were shown in the "micro explorer tool" window which is accessed by clicking the big yellow question mark on the tool bar or via  the "tools>visual micro" menu.

The Micro Explorer is explained in the documentation here http://www.visualmicro.com/page/User-Guide.aspx?doc=Micro-Explorer.html

Under the examples tab you will find the "Blink" sketch

If I am right in my answer then I must assume you are new to Arduino which means that you can use the following resources to help you learn.
http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/HomePage
http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage
http://playground.arduino.cc/

I also recommend using the Arduino Ide for a short time so that you come to understand what is available when working with Arduino. I am sorry this is not clear in our documentation, it is in the process of being changed to make this clear.

Let me know if I have misunderstood

Thanks
