Syntax colours visual studio 2008

Hi all,

I installed an older version of VM about a year ago but due to illness I have had to have a break. Yesterday I downloaded and installed Atmel studio 6.2 and VM version 1.1407.10.
Everything worked fine but my debug menu was messed up as can be seen. I fixed this by doing a couple of devenv  resets,  (without exporting settings first...).
Everything seems to work fine, I can compile and program just fine, but I have no intellisense and no syntax colouring.
I have tried the following:

removing/re-adding the ino and pde extensions under the text editor options
disable/enabe the VM plugin
Resetting user interface from the VM menu
repaired/reinstalled VM

All ideas most welcome !

Thanks

Hi

The messed up menus will be a result of another plugin causing a conflict or out of date Visual Studio shell. It's a bug in Visual Studio which affects a few users although I have not seen it in Atmel Studio until now.

If you can't fix it you can reset visual studio using a command line switch added to the shortcut you use to open Atmel Studio.

The color coding is added by the Visual Micro installer but if you install Visual Micro without running and closing as6 at least once then the as6 registry keys are not present when the visual micro installer runs. Running the visual micro installer again should fix the issue. if not then the next question is where did you install visual micro from? Using the latest release from visualmicro.com or via the atmel gallery?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the info. The menus I did fix by resetting, that's when the colour coding and also intellisense stopped working.
I've just un/reinstalled VM again but no change. Atmel Studio works fine.
I've just noticed that in the status bar it says :
"IntelliSense:'Type of expression to the left of . or-> is not a class, struct, or union'

I installed from visualmicro.com

Thanks

Hi,

Can you see ;.ino in the ExtSourceAvr in this path of regedit.exe
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Atmel\Whole Tomato\Visual Assist X\AtmelStudio62

If not then close as6, then try running it as administrator. If that add the .ino to the reg key then please let me know otherwise add it yourself.

Thanks

Hi,

.ino was already there, I did however remove it, then ran AS, as administrator and it added it back, tried again and ran AS normally and still added it - not sure if that helps any.
I haven't mentioned before, but running win7 64 bit, UAC and such is off.

Thanks

That all sounds okay.

Can you post a screen shot with a bit of code and also switch to the Uno board thanks

Sorry I am confused.

The title of the thread is about visual studio 2008 but we were talking about Atmel Studio for the registry keys.

The screen shot is of Visual Studio 2008 and syntax color code appears to be working.

What am I missing?

thanks
