Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post
Support requests without the output above may be impossible to answer, so please help us to help you

Atmel Studio 7 - serial monitor cannot read input and communicate to arduino

i enter 1 and hit send but nothing happens, on the Arduino IDE itself, it accepts my character and give a 'HIGH' signal which you can measure with a metre.
I am new to atmel studio and cannot figure out how to make the serial monitor interact with the arduino using ATMEL STUDIO 7.
Can anyone who has encountered and solved this help?

Hi,

Please switch the tool bar from Debug to Release. Then upload again and see if it works.

I also suggest you grab/move the tabs of "Serial | COM5" and "Expressions on COM5" because they are preventing the "Output" window from displaying. The Output often contains useful information and tips such as "debug paused" etc.

It is the same. any code that did not have to use the serial monitor works ....

It would have been better to install visual studio as opposed to atmel studio because it is easier to support people with the latest software.

Which button are you pressing to send?
