I'm trying to install the Visual Micro extension for the Atmel Studio 7.0 on Windows 8.1 pro.

I've tried a lot, but nothing worked.
As recommended in other topics, i'm openning the Visual.Micro.Atmel.Studio.vsix with the VSIXINSTALLER of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\VSIXINSTALLER

But it fails and the Install log shows these information:

I suppose it isn't finding the Atmel Studio 7.0

Does the fact that i had once installed Atmel Studio 6.2 interfere on this?? It isn't installed anymore.

Thanks..

Now I need to try it with Atmel Studio 7 and i download the last version.

Hi,

A new version of Visual Micro was released a month ago with full compatibility for AS7 so this thread is out of date.

If you take a look at the downloads page on visualmicro.com there is a note that explains to install from within the atmel studio ide:-

"tools>extensions and updates>online>arduino ide for atmel studio 7"

When you install from within the ide it ensures the correct installer is used regardless of what other visual studio versions you have installed.

As7 uses an older microsoft installer because of a mistake Microsoft made when the released the Visual Studio 2015 shell that AS7 uses.

I know others hit this issue so have highlighted the solution. Thanks for the post.
